Although Classical and Flamenco guitar do share some similarities, Flamenco is more akin to Jazz in temperament. It is generally understood that traditional Flamenco is a highly structured improvisation between singers, dancers and guitarists. Solo Flamenco guitar is a relatively young art form, and due to the fact that Flamenco solos are more composed than improvised, they share some common ground with Classical guitar. However, the apple never falls to far from the tree, and a good Flamenco solo is no exception. Without the essence of tradition, there is no reference, no commentary and no meaning.
